Hi, I'm Amy Scott-Wilson - a BACP registered counsellor. Seeking support can feel really vulnerable so thank you for taking the time to look at my profile - you're very welcome here.
I believe that you deserve an approach to therapy that's as unique as you are. I never use 'a one size fits all approach.' Intead, I use an array of tools, approaches and theories, always working alongside you to find out what's best for you.

I'll offer you a calm, compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore whatever's on your mind. You might come to counselling with a very specific topic to discuss or you might not quite be able to put your finger on what you'd like support with. Either way, there's no right or wrong and I'd love to hear from you.
Although I don't have a formal diagnosis, I have a strong suspicion that I may be neurodivergent myself. I work with a large amount of neurodivergent clients and to me it does not matter if you have a diagnosis or are self-diagnosed - what matters to me is that you feel safe, seen and supported. I take each client as an individual and together we craft a therapeutic approach that works for you.
I draw upon a range of techniques depending on the needs and preferences of the person that I'm working with. Some people prefer non-directive work to explore their feelings, whereas others prefer to explore strategies (a bit like a toolkit of resources for difficult times) or to learn about helpful theories. You are the expert on you - your preferences are always at the centre of our work together and I welcome honest feedback.
I have a special interest in the use of mindful awareness, the importance of self-compassion in therapy and the use of polyvagal theory to understand how stress and trauma affect our sense of embodied safety. This type of work lends itself well to working with a variety of personal difficulties in a trauma-informed way.
Finding the right counsellor for you is a really personal process so please feel free to explore my website, read my blogs and have a look at my social media pages if this helps you to feel more familiar with who I am and how I work.
I also provide a free, no obligation, 20 minute initial consultation as standard so that we can meet before you commit to paid sessions with me.
My fee (for a 50 minute session) is based on a sliding scale of £55 - £75 per session, based on what feels fair and affordable to you in your personal circumstances. Counselling sessions that begin from 5pm onwards or occur at weekends operate on a sliding scale of £60 - £75.
