I’m Ben, an integrative counsellor offering a neuroaffirming space for adults and young people (16+).
I identify as neurodivergent and am currently awaiting a formal diagnosis. This lived experience informs my understanding of masking, overwhelm, and difference, and shapes how I work with clients.
I support people who may feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or unsure how to make sense of their inner experience, particularly if you’ve spent time adapting or feeling misunderstood.
You might find your thoughts or emotions intense or hard to process, or feel like you’re coping on the outside while struggling underneath. My aim is to offer a space where you don’t have to explain or justify how your mind works.
Alongside my work, I’m a creative person that enjoys painting, collage, and writing. I find music an important way to regulate and express myself. I’m also a proud cat dad, which brings a bit of lightness into everyday life (but also mess and scratched furniture).
I take an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic models and adapting the work to suit you — rather than expecting you to fit a particular way of doing therapy.
I work in a neuroaffirming way, recognising neurodivergence as a difference, not something to fix. Together, we can explore how your mind and nervous system work, what supports you, and where things may feel difficult or overwhelming.
There’s no single “right” way to engage in therapy. We can shape sessions around your needs — whether that includes more structure or flexibility, time to process, or adapting how we communicate. If it’s helpful, we can also use creative approaches, such as writing, drawing, or collage, as part of the work.
We might explore patterns in relationships, how you relate to yourself, emotional or sensory experiences, the impact of masking or burnout, or earlier experiences that may still be shaping things now.
My work is trauma-informed, meaning I prioritise safety, choice, and collaboration. You are in control of the pace and depth of the work.
