Hello, my name is Kate and I have over 15 years of experience working in mental health, first as a mental health nurse and now as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I am passionate about supporting clients with Anxiety & Low Self-Esteem and have further training to be able to support neurodivergent clients, so offer neurodivergent affirming therapy. I am a gay woman and am proud to support members of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering affirming therapy in this area as well.
I am trained in CBT therapy, however also have further training in Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness, all of which I used to support you to achieve your therapy goals. I always lead with compassion and empathy and offer a safe and non-judgmental place to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
I work with clients who are struggling with Anxiety (including Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, General Anxiety Disorder - GAD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – OCD, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD), Low Self-Esteem and Stress.
I have further training in adapted CBT, which means I can offer tailored sessions to address the needs of neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD and Autistic traits. I have traits of ADHD and Autism myself, so I understand that you don't have to have an official diagnosis, you know yourself better than anyone. For ADHD, that might include tools for focus, motivation or managing procrastination. For Autism, we don't treat the Autism, instead we take a creative approach to CBT techniques to help with symptoms such as anxiety, low self-esteem or low mood.
I currently offer online CBT sessions, so you can access support from the comfort of your own home. I am based in the East Midlands so have a good knowledge of Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Loughborough, however I can work with anyone in the UK.
In our first sessions, we’ll explore what’s going on for you and clarify your goals for therapy. From there, we’ll begin to identify patterns in your thinking and behaviour that may be keeping you stuck, which also involves looking at how your past is impacting the here and now. I’ll support you in learning practical coping strategies and tools grounded in evidence-based CBT to help you manage the challenges you may be facing.
As the sessions are tailored to you and we work collaboratively, this means that we go at your pace.
