About Me

I am passionate about the benefits of Gestalt therapy, and its potential to support us all to live an authentic, satisfying life. I have been practising therapy since August 2016, and opened my private practice in January 2018.

My background is in art and psychology, teaching and mental health and wellbeing roles within the voluntary sector. This has included a national homelessness charity, and a charity for adults with acquired brain injury.

I was diagnosed Autistic and ADHD in my late forties. Many of my clients identify as neurodivergent, or are exploring their possible neurodivergence.

How I Work

I offer weekly 60 minute sessions, in my room in Todmorden, or online. Gestalt is a flexible and creative therapy, and together we find a way of working that suits you. This might include using art materials if you'd like that, and you're very welcome to bring stim/fidget objects and other sensory items to sessions that help you feel comfortable.

Gestalt is a relational therapy, which means we notice what happens between us in our relationship, as it might provide some insight into what is happening for you in other relationships.

The overall aim of Gestalt therapy is to develop more awareness, and this can come in many forms. It might be more awareness of the impact of past experiences, greater knowledge and understanding of your patterns and ways of coping, more connection with your body, feelings and emotions, or more insight into your likes, dislikes, values, needs and wants. The more awareness we have, the better informed we are when making choices and decisions in our lives, so we can live in a way that is more aligned with who we are.
