I'm a counsellor based in the North of England, though 'home' was a fluid concept for me growing up a military child, an experience that taught me early on about the complexities of adapting to new environments.
My journey into neuro-affirming practice began personally: it wasn't until my little sister reached her teens that I truly began to understand neurodivergence. And, that most of my my family are neurodivergent (or 'neuro-spicy', as my little sister fondly calls us!). Recognising this in my own life helped me truly understand how expansive and diverse the spectrum really is.
I combine this personal insight with my professional background, having spent years both supporting neurodiverse students navigate the academic and emotional landscape of university and clients within my practice. |My goal is to work alongside you, honouring your unique way of experiencing the world.
My background is in Person Centred Counselling and I use this to keep you, the client at the centre of the work. I prioritise building a deep, trusting therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being your authentic self, free from judgement or pressure.
My aim is to provide a balance of deep understanding and actionable support, ensuring that our time together is both healing and transformative. My role is to walk alongside you in a non-judgemental, empathetic partnership, providing the safety you need to explore your thoughts and feelings, gain self awareness, and tap into your own innate capacity for growth.
To compliment this approach I work integratively pulling from different therapeutic approaches ensuring that together we address the whole person (mental, physical, emotional and social) to foster healing and adaptability. Together, we will focus on self-development, the unconscious mind and thought patterns.
My sessions are relaxed and conducted at your pace, you (the client) are the expert on your own self meaning that you are the only person who truly knows your lived experiences, feelings and history. As the therapist I will bring the psychological expertise and you bring your lived truths.
My sessions are run online or in person through Walking and Talking. Walking and Talking therapy is highly effective and accessible alternative for neurodivergent individuals. By shifting the setting from an office to an outdoor, movement based space, the approach addresses many specific sensory, social and neurological needs. This approach removes the need, for what can be considered, intense eye contact, making it easier to open up and discuss difficult emotions. It can also break the clinical barrier by removing the office environment, creating a less formal environment. Finally, this approach and help with sensory regulation, the natural environment offers a calming and predictable stimuli, compared to the silence of a closed room.
